On November 17, 2020, the 7th annual Jimmy Pappas Memorial Shoot took place in Houston. John D. Elder III, Acclaim Energy’s Founder and CEO, established this event after his close friend Jimmy Pappas died from cancer. Due to Jimmy’s generous and joyful nature, some of his closest friends decided to establish an annual event in his honor to support organizations such as CanCare and The Sunshine Kids Foundation, two organizations that serve families and children impacted by cancer.
This year many of Houston’s top businesses once again rallied in support of these charitable organizations, which gathered more than 250 participants and raised thousands of dollars in contributions. The event brought out some of Texas’ best shooters as well as those with little experience. Everyone enjoyed wonderful catering, raffles, a silent auction, awards, and much needed social interaction due to the impact of COVID-19.
The number of contributors is too many to list here, but all those involved in planning the event, including the Pappas family, were deeply touched thanks to the selfless and generous nature of our sponsors and volunteers.
“This event is a labor of love, and it reinforces the character and qualities of Houstonians who care about the wellbeing of others. Acclaim is grateful to have had an opportunity to participate in this important community initiative and we look forward to supporting it again next year,” said Elder.
