Department of Energy to Enhance Electrical Transmission Nationwide
The Department of Energy has announced their commitment to enhance the national grid by making available $8.25 billion in loans. The goal is to modernize the grid by aggressively implementing renewable energy resources to achieve President Biden’s goal of using 100% clean energy by 2035.
The modernization of power distribution infrastructure will facilitate the transmission of renewable energy that is, in many cases, generated far away from end-use consumers. Vast amounts of Power distribution infrastructure is needed to transmit clean energy effectively and efficiently. In addition to facilitating renewable energy, according to the DOE, this project will also aim to improve resistance to cyber threats, natural disaster, and physical attacks.
